Mighty Taxes

Here at PrettySweet.com, we are serious about taxes. Sure, we hate them, but since they’re unavoidable, we all have to at least accept them and pay what we owe. The good news is that we can help you find deductions plus exclusive savings on tax prep software, including TurboTax and TaxAct.

We used to publish all of this over at MightyTaxes.com, but decided to consolidate blogs and bring it all over here.

In fact, we keep a running list of all the best TurboTax partners offering a discount this tax year. In the meantime, here’s something that I found interesting:

Did you know that the modern U.S. income tax system is actually a little over 100 years old? While taxes have existed in many forms for thousands of years, the federal income tax as we know it became permanent after the 16th Amendment was ratified in 1913.

Before that, the U.S. government relied much more heavily on tariffs, excise taxes, and other revenue sources. So when people complain about doing their taxes every April, they’re participating in a relatively modern American tradition, though it probably doesn’t feel that way while sorting through receipts!

Anyway, thanks for stopping by Pretty Sweet!
